Green Energy- A Cure to Smog

Solar Pakistan

We all have witnessed dense clouds of SMOG in Lahore on 2nd November, 2016 which is a prove that our lifestyle is changing our planet. We are constantly consuming dirty energy while we drive, cook, watch TV and cool or heat our homes. Most energy is generated through polluting sources such as the burning of fossil fuels like natural gas and oil.

Talking about these horrible clouds it is known as SMOG which is a kind of air pollution, originally named for the mixture of smoke and fog in the air. It consists of ground-level ozone, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide & carbon monoxide. The toxins create intense harm for senior citizens, children, and people with heart and lung conditions such as emphysema, bronchitis, and asthma. It can cause eye and nose irritation and it dries out the protective membranes of the nose and throat and interferes with the body’s ability to fight infection, increasing susceptibility to illness.

Power generation is the main source of industrial air pollution in Pakistan. The greater part of our power originates from coal, diesel, and other non-renewable power plants. Energy production through these assets creates a serious toll on our environment, contaminating our air, land, and water.

Renewable energy resources can be utilized for the production of clean & green energy. They create an opportunity for the production of CO2 free energy as it is the leading source of global climatic changes.

We need to play a vital role in making our environment SMOG-Free. This can be only done if we join hands and embrace green energy resources. Making use of solar energy will help us re-clean our environment, as solar energy is derived from sun that provides energy without depleting the Earth’s resources as well as its beauty.
